Puttu - Kerala breakfast
Puttu is a common breakfast item in Kerala. Puttu is a dish made of rice flour and fresh coconut,steamed in special puttu makers.This is Served usually with Kadala Curry.
Ingredients for Puttu
1)Rice Flour-2 cups
2)Grated Coconut-1/3 cup
3)Salt to taste
4)Hot Water-1/2 cup
Coconut Shell mould is available in the market,the mould
has a hole in the bottom and it has to be attached to a
Pressure cooker.
How to prepare
1)Add salt to water and mix it well.
2)Springle hot water to the rice flour and mix it well.
Springle more water if needed to make it wet.
3)Add some grated coconut to the mould and fill the mould
with puttu mix and close the lid.
4)Fill 2/3 rd of the pressure cooker with water and Heat it.
5)When steam starts coming from the cooker,place the mould
above it.
6)Allow it to cook in steam for 5 min, when steam starts
coming from the small holes on the lid of the mould,detach
the mould from the cooker.
Puttu is ready to be served
