Dry Moong Dal
Ingredients
1)Moong dal-5 oz
2)Salt to taste
3)Turmeric Powder-a pinch
4)Coriander Powder-1/4 tsp
5)Cumin Powder-1/4 tsp
6)Cayenne Powder-1/4 tsp
7)Dry mango Powder(amachur)-1/4 tsp
8)Butter-1/4 tsp
How to Prepare
1)Soak the dal in water for 1 hour.
2)In a cooking pot bring 1 cup water to the boil,add the dal,boil it again and add salt to taste.
3)Cook until all the water is absorbed,then turn the heat to low,put a griddle pan over the heat and place the pot with the dal on it.
4)This gives an even,mild heat which prevents dal from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
All the moisture will be absorbed in about 20 minutes.
5)When it is time to serve, Put the dal in a serving bowl.Sprinkle evenly with the spice
powders,adding them one by one.
6)Heat butter in a pan,when it is hot,pour it over the spices,cover the bowl with a lid for a few seconds, then remove and serve.
7)The consistency should be that of soft rice.
Dry moong dal is ready to be served.
