Curd Rice - Yogurt Rice

Curd rice (Tamil- Thayir(Curd)Sadam(Rice),also called yogurt rice) is a dish of South India.It is most popular in the Indian states of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

Ingredients

1)Rice-1 cup
2)Curd(Yogurt)-1 cup
3)Milk-1/4 cup
4)Vegetable Oil-3 tsp
5)Black gram/Urad Dal-1 tsp
6)Mustard Seeds-1 tsp
7)Red chillies -3
8)Salt as required
9)Coriander & curry leaves to garnish.

How to Prepare

1)Cook the rice in a pressure cooker.Turn off the gas and Keep it aside for an hour or two.
2)Mix yogurt with rice and add salt to taste.
3)Heat the Oil in a pan,add mustard seeds to it and when it start popping, add black gram/urad dal and red chillies and saute it for a while.
4)Mix it with cooked rice.
5)Before serving,add milk and mix well.
6)Garnish it with coriander & curry leaves.

Curd Rice is ready.Serve with pickle and Pappad(Appalam)
